The Sun / Wait Until Sunrise

The Sun / Wait Until Sunrise

Orange emerged from Antwerp's vibrant art and music scene in 1966, evolving through lineup changes to become one of Belgium’s most compelling underground rock bands. By 1969, the band had solidified its identity and made their national television debut, showcasing a blend of psychedelic and melodic rock. Later that year, with drummer Hugo Van Camp joining Marc Van Geystelen (lead guitar), Norbert De Lange (guitar/vocals), and Swa De Houwer (bass), the band recorded their debut single ā€œThe Sunā€ b/w ā€œWait Until Sunriseā€ at Decca Studios in Brussels—a dark, brooding masterpiece that has since earned cult status.

Orange gained further recognition in 1971, being voted ā€œBest Underground Bandā€ by Music Express, a Dutch music magazine. Despite this success, lineup changes in 1972 saw Marc and Swa depart, and the group shifted toward a power-pop sound. The new iteration of Orange toured extensively through the mid-to-late 1970s, carving a niche in Europe’s live music scene.

Their early years were marked by experimentation and ambition, and Orange’s music continues to resonate today. A new incarnation of the band remains active, playing shows and keeping their legacy alive. Ancient Grease Records is proud to present this vinyl reissue of Orange’s debut release, which marked a pivotal moment in Belgian underground rock history.
