Music for Iwuda
Iwuda is the solo project of First Nations bassist Davin Ojala. Named for the Anaiwan word for echidna, the project moves through jazz, groove, and a handful of other traditions to land somewhere bass-forward and distinctly its own.
Music for Iwuda is Ojala's debut album, built in two halves: a suite of duo compositions recorded live in single takes at Yill Lull Studio in Canberra through Space to Create, a First Nations arts program supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists; and a set of solo sessions at Echidna Studios, where Ojala layered and reshaped every bass element himself. Mixed by Akey Amy and Will Kepa, mastered by Nicholas Di Lorenzo.
