Different Flavors Of Being Happy

‘Different Flavours of Being Happy’ is a concept album dedicated to the multifaceted theme of happiness: musically, the work moves between indie, pop and soul, recounting the first moments of happiness from childhood right up to the present day – and the fears that repeatedly stand in the way of this feeling. Mina Richman’s second album is due for release on 14 August 2026, on CD and LP, via Ladies&Ladys. The search for her own perspective and direction in life drew the queer German-Iranian musician Mina Richman to music from an early age. Born in Berlin and raised in the small town of Bad Salzuflen, she moves between different worlds. In her aunt’s CD collection, she discovered formative influences such as Joan As Police Woman and Nina Simone. Soul and blues, hip-hop culture and the rebellious spirit of great female singer-songwriters shape her sound. These influences are already evident in her debut EP “Jaywalker” (2022), for which she was nominated for the PopNRW Award as Best Newcomer. This was followed by her debut album “Grown Up” (2024), which was named Album of the Week by Deutschlandfunk Kultur, and the EP “Past 25” (2025). Framed by spoken-word passages that hint at Mina Richman’s admiration for Kae Tempest, her new album explores fears of change and the question of the meaning of life, whilst also delving into themes of falling in love and finding a sense of belonging in this multifaceted work.
